This is a fundamental isolation exercise for the chest muscles. Maintain a slight bend in your elbows throughout the movement and focus on squeezing the chest.
Adjust the machine arms to chest height, slightly behind your body. Select an appropriate weight.
Step slightly forward, take a stable staggered stance, and grasp the handles. Keep your back straight and gaze forward.
Exhale and bring your hands together in front of your body in an arcing motion, squeezing your chest muscles hard.
Pause for a moment, then slowly and controllably return your hands to the starting position while inhaling.
