This variation targets the lower lats and biceps more intensely. Maintain a controlled movement and avoid swinging your body.
Position yourself in the machine as you would for a wide-grip pulldown. Grasp the bar with an underhand grip (palms facing you) about shoulder-width apart.
Keep your core tight and lean back slightly. Pull the bar down towards the lower part of your chest.
Squeeze your shoulder blades together forcefully at the end of the movement.
Slowly and controllably return the bar to the starting position, feeling the stretch in your lats.
