An effective movement for isolating the calf muscles. Use a lighter weight and focus on a full range of motion and feeling the burn in your calves.
Place the balls of your feet on the lower edge of the platform so your heels are hanging off. Keep your legs nearly straight but do not lock your knees.
Release the lock and slowly let your heels drop as far down as possible to get a good stretch in your calves.
Forcefully push up with the balls of your feet as high as you can, squeezing your calves at the top.
Hold for a moment and then slowly lower back down. Repeat.
