This is an advanced variation of the traditional shrug, activating the trapezius muscles (traps) from a new angle. Focus on elevating your shoulders straight up towards your ears.
Set both machine arms to the lowest position and attach handles. Stand in the center, facing away from the machine.
Grasp the handles and step forward so your arms are slightly behind your body and you feel a slight stretch.
Keep your arms straight and your core tight. Exhale and shrug your shoulders as high as possible, straight up towards your ears.
Pause at the top of the movement, squeezing your traps. Then, slowly lower your shoulders back down while inhaling.
